The Hidden Benefits of Laser Coaching in a Group Coaching Experience

I received this question on group coaching a couple of months ago: “I'm thinking of doing no "teaching" but doing laser coaching for each person so that everyone can get some experience of my coaching. Is that a good idea and any recommendation on how to best do this?” First of all, this is a GREAT idea!  “No teaching” is actually the best way of being a group coach.  This allows you to focus on bringing out the wisdom of each person in the group, rather than sharing your own. And laser coaching in the group will not only help the person who is being coached; there are hidden benefits for everyone in the group.  Laser coaching of an individual [...]

Become THE Solution to Your Client’s Biggest Challenge

There is something so attractive about being very clear about your niche, the challenge of the people in that niche, and the solution you provide. When you can articulate this clearly, you become the ‘go to’ person for this particular group of people. It is easy to recommend you. Clients feel drawn to a specialist. If you were going to run a marathon, would you buy shoes at any old store, or would you go to a store that specialized in running shoes? Becoming a specialist will make practice development much easier. Here’s how I identified my specialty. When I received my niche of coaching new coaches, and decided to accept that group as my focal point, my community, I [...]

The Value of Taking Inspired Actions

In developing my coaching practice, I have learned the importance of taking inspired actions. By that, I mean actions that resonate with my essence energy and values. These actions allow me to radiate my true self. When I radiate my true self, the clients that come to me are a mirror of that to me. They are a perfect fit. When my actions are not inspired, I find that I attract a lot of high maintenance clients, ones that are not a good fit. When I first came into coaching, I had a post-it note on my wall with a quote from Abraham-Hicks. And it said, “Line up your energy and take the inspired action.” That really became my business [...]

Receiving Your Niche

Determining a niche is perhaps one of the most perplexing and nerve-wracking things for a new coach. Some people call it choosing a niche. Many marketing gurus say that you must make a decision about this, and that it is going to be the entire foundation of your practice, so you had better get it right! That’s a lot of pressure for a new coach! And it is unnecessary, IMHO. When I began coaching, I did not know much about niches or ideal clients. I didn’t make a conscious decision about who I would be coaching. My niche actually found me, and I received these clients wholeheartedly with great joy, because the niche was so natural to me. Your ideal [...]

Identifying and Researching Your Target Market

In this podcast I was joined by Nanci Biddle, who called herself "The Boundary Queen." Her website is www.yourcoachingpartner.com. Nancy and I discussed how a coach can effectively research a new niche market, and connect with prospective clients. Nanci described her niche market as "Baby Boomers taking care of Mom or Dad." Tune into our discussion about researching your target market. Plus, we’ve added some bonus material below regarding choosing your niche. Enjoy! Why should a coach choose a niche? It does seem counterintuitive but in fact you will get more clients by narrowing your focus. Think about this. If you had a broken leg, you might go to a general practitioner, but more than likely you’d consult an orthopedic [...]
