Hello, today I want to talk to you about a question I get asked a lot. And that is, “How can I bring in some extra cash for paying my income taxes? You know, I made more money last year than I needed, and I want to get a little extra cash. And how could I served my clients even better, especially those who are not ready to do a VIP full six month coaching program. But maybe they need to have that VIP experience with me.” So the answer is jumpstart sessions.
I LOVE these jumpstart sessions! And actually, I’m going to call it a jumpstart program because it has more than one session.
So here’s what you do. Have a topic or a theme, or maybe a few different topics or themes that people can hire you for. And do these jumpstart sessions. The reason that they’re jumpstart is you’re going to give them a plan. You’re going to give them a start to… maybe it’s going to last a whole entire year or more. So for instance, if you had a two hour session to start out with and you were going to make a plan about something that they’re ideal clients really loved and needed. And then you add one more session to this jumpstart program, and that’s a follow up session within the next four weeks so that you can follow up with them. And what you’re going to do in this session is you’re going to really roll up your sleeves and you’re going to help them to structure something. Make a blueprint, make a plan, help them understand what they’re going to do every week to support their business. And you can do this at the beginning of each quarter. The beginning of the year is a great time, but even the beginning of a quarter, like right now it’s March. You could say, “Hey you know, if you take what you’ve done in the first quarter and multiply it by four would you be happy with the results of the end of the year? Do you want to do something more?” And so this jumpstart session, especially for a business person, would help there.
For a relationship (you’re a relationship coach), maybe you say, “Would you like to have your ideal relationship? What would that be like? Imagine if you could have that within a year’s time. Start now.” Health, “What would it be like to lose that, you know, that last 10/20 lbs or whatever it is you want to do and be really healthy and have all your numbers be perfect? Start now.”
So these jumpstart sessions can help. And what you want to do in the jump start session is you want to help people create what they need to do you. You’re not going to be helping them so much create how they’re going to do this day by day, because you just wanted to put the plan in place. So I’m going to give you an example of what I do in my jumpstart sessions, I have the very same structure that I’ve just talked about.
In fact, in the last month, I’ve helped a couple coaches map out their whole marketing plan for the entire year. And so they know what to do every single week. So in one hour a week… here’s the amazing marketing plan we’ve come up with. In one hour a week, you can get in front of billions of people. Seriously. I mean, I know how to do this, and I can help my clients to do that. That’s for those who don’t like marketing. That’s a great marketing plan! To spend one hour a week in marketing.
I talked about the relationship coach. What if you wanted to support them to know what they needed to do every week? Like maybe they were going to write up a vision statement, talk about their ideal relationship and then read that on a weekly or daily basis. There are all kinds of things you can do with these jumpstart sessions. If somebody’s thinking of getting their website done, you could help them map out of all the pages for the website and even get outlines for the copy. Which is kind of fun because my friend Joan said to me, years ago, “Why is it that we have to pay people all this money to do our website yet we’re doing all the work?” And in a way, sometimes we do feel like that although there’s a lot more work that goes into a website. But you can take a couple of hours and do lots of work . Hve them hand it into their web person. And then within four weeks have a follow up session to see what needed to be edited. So those are some of the things you could do with jumpstart.
The pricing people ask me what price can I charge for jumpstart sessions and programs? I charge a thousand dollars. You could charge a thousand dollars depending on what it what might be worth to people. You would also even charge 500 and use this as a kind of gateway or threshold program. Because once they do the jump start and they get the plan together for the next year, you can also offer them monthly coaching afterwards to continue on with the session and to help them get into their goals. So these jumpstart programs are just really, really easy. They’re easy to do, their fun. And they help people to have that start to do something that maybe they’re not that happy to start with. Or maybe they don’t even know where to start and they’re stuck. But I think it’s a great idea to do this with your clients, to make this offer.
And since we’re coming up on finishing up this first quarter, it’s a perfect time for you to make this offer to your clients. Let them know that you can help them and then they get a taste of you. They could get to have an experience of you helping with your expertise and who knows where that could lead.
