So I set out to learn how to create an amazing group experience! The six-step model of group coaching has supported countless coaches over the years and helped them get their core message out in a bigger way. So far we’ve shared: Group Coaching Step 1: Connection Group Coaching Step 2: Group Agreements Group Coaching Step 3: Content Group Coaching Step 4: Coaching Group coaching is an important key to your business success! Now let’s reveal the last two steps for effective group coaching. [...]

The Main Attraction: Group Coaching

The six-step model of group coaching has supported countless coaches over the years and helped them get their core message out in a bigger way. So far we’ve reviewed: Group Coaching Step 1: Connection Group Coaching Step 2: Group Agreements Group Coaching Step 3: Content In step 4, we arrive at the main attraction…Coaching! Group members are given an opportunity to share their challenges, any confusion or limiting beliefs and be coached around them. Group coaching uses the same ideas that are true for individual coaching. All group coaching clients are infinitely resourceful and know their own answers. As a group coach, you elicit the magnificence of each group member and facilitate their individual learning and growth. You do this [...]

Group Coaching – Visualizing Your Ideal Group and Topic

We’ve been talking about the six-step model of group coaching. Now it’s time for the juicy part…the CONTENT! In the third step of a coaching group, the coach provides thought-provoking questions—or jumping off points—that are related to the group theme or topic. In order to do this with ease, there are a couple pieces that need to be put into place: visualizing exactly who is your ideal group member; and determining a topic that is very juicy for this person! First, get yourself in the receiving frame of mind. You may want to step away from your computer. Instead, this is the time to nourish your creativity. Do you like to journal? Go find that beautiful pen and lovely journal. Burn [...]

Group Coaching – Agreements

Recently we’ve been talking about the six-step model of group coaching that has supported countless coaches over the years and helped them get their core message out in a bigger way. We began by reviewing the 6-step model and also established Step 1, the Connection. Next in the 6-step model we consider Step 2, Coaching Agreements. In this step, the group agrees to a set of guidelines that they will follow when interacting and communicating with each other. We call these the Standards of Presence, a clearly articulated and easy to understand set of guidelines, which provides a proven container of safety in any group. I want to acknowledge the Inspired Learning Foundation and Coach For Life for these wonderful group guidelines – [...]

Group Coaching – Connecting Members

I recently shared the six-step model of group coaching that has supported countless coaches over the years and helped them get their core message out in a bigger way. The 6-step model begins with Step 1, the Connection. In this step, the coach facilitates the connection with the group members and helps them bring their full presence to the group. The connection allows you to shift the energy from wherever the group members have been previously, and bring them fully present for the group. I’d like to share a couple of ways of creating connection that you may wish to adapt for your own groups: Connecting members to each other In this type of connection, you want to call out the group member’s [...]

Vacation days are mandatory!

If you are in the northern hemisphere, summer has just ended, and the kids are back to school.  Chances are, you have taken your annual vacation, and you may not have plans for another vacation for awhile.  But what if you could take vacation days every month?  Wouldn’t that be great? Actually, adding in vacation days every month will help you grow your business. I know that seems counter-intuitive, but it’s really true. Think about it. As a coach, you are also a business owner.  Do you have days when you feel like a computer with too many windows open?  Do you sometimes think, “If I only work harder or if I can put in more hours then I will [...]

68 Seconds to Creation!

When I began my coaching practice, I was very intrigued by the concept of manifestation.  I listened to hours and hours of Abraham-Hicks audios.  I read Laura Day, Catherine Ponder and Wayne Dyer, and was very intent on unlocking the secret to instant manifestation.  In fact, this concept still intrigues me to this day. The idea that pure thought, held for a certain period of time, could replace hours and even years of action in the creation process was one that I played with a lot in those days.  In fact, it was said that 17 seconds of pure positive thought energy would equal 2,000 “man-hours” of work, and that if you went to 68 seconds, it would equate with [...]

The 18th Camel

When I was in the Arizona State Leadership Program, we heard this story, which is a perfect metaphor for what a coach does. There was a father who left 17 camels as an inheritance for his three sons. When the father passed away, his sons opened up the will. The will of the father stated that: his eldest son should receive 1/2 of 17 camels his middle son should receive 1/3 of 17 camels his youngest son should receive 1/9 of 17 camels As you know, it is not possible to divide 17 camels by any of those numbers. The three sons started to fight with each other. They wanted to divide their father’s estate according to his wishes, but [...]

The Standards of Presence

The Approach: Co-creating a Safe EnvironmentAll groups that come together for the purpose of learning, creating, communicating, living or celebrating are served when the creation and maintenance of a safe space is established. A truly safe group environment provides the basis for powerful transformation, empowering exploration, inspired collaboration and vibrant living. The use of the Standards of Presence, a clearly articulated and easy to understand set of guidelines, provides a proven container of safety in any group. The Underlying Principle: Acceptance The primary underlying principle of the Standards of Presence is acceptance. Know that everyone is doing their best to learn, grow, respect, and follow these Standards. Self-acceptance is particularly beneficial to experience a safe, empowering environment to learn, create, [...]

Thanksgiving Poem

During this Thanksgiving week, I’d like to share a poem that I wrote when I was in the 4th grade: "Thank you God for my mouth to talk, Thank you God for my legs to walk. Thank you God for my ears to hear, Thank you God for my family dear. But most of all for my eyes to see My loving Father thee." Of course, I was in Catholic school when I wrote the poem, and the language would be different for me today.  Why I love this poem, and why I am sharing it with you is that I have always been very grateful for my ability to connect with my inner guidance. As coaches, we are in [...]
